[Shisyashin Boom]

-In the 1990s, a casual and realistic style in which depicts privacy and intimacy started to blow off among European and American fashion photography. Nobuyoshi Araki's “Sentimental Journey'' (private edition, 1971) was said to be one of the classic works under such style , in which his own private life was revealed. The concept was then followed by his series of works where the term “Sishyashin”, which means “Private Photography” in japanese,  was coined. The consequence of it? A “Shisyashin Boom” that profoundly affects japanese fashion photography and editors of this publication.

-Starting from japan fashion magazine "Cutie" that is to function as an intention to closely probe the photography born out prominent in the behind of that "photography boom " of tokyo after the mid 90s.Those photographers collected here are most actively working for tokyo magazine in 1998 and drawing attentions in magazines.

The refinement of senses, depth, variety, pathology, reality, etc. the "presence" and "next" of the generation, are evidently apparent within these eleven people's fashion photography._preface from Tokyo Fashion Story
